Municipal Budget Process

Each year, the City Manager proposes a municipal budget in March which is then reviewed and ultimately approved by the City Council in June.  The new budget takes effect July 1.

The budget process for Fiscal Year 2021-2022 (FY22) looks like this:

There are many opportunities for public comment regarding the municipal budget.  The first opportunity is at the municipal budget public hearing on April 6, 2021 at 6:30pm during the regular City Council meeting. The City Manager and Superintendent of Schools will present the budget for the City and School Department (respectively), and members of the public will have up to 5 minutes per person to speak.  To join the public hearing on April 6 at 6:30pm and offer public comment, click here:

A copy of the City Manager's Budget Presentation from April 6, 2021 can be found here.

At each budget workshop, where each department's budget is reviewed by the City Council, there is more opportunity for public comment (up to 2 minutes per person).  Information about budget meetings/workshops are posted on the City's website (under "Agendas & Minutes").   For the full schedule of budget workshops/meetings, click here (revised 5/20/21).

The budget impacts your taxes, and commenting on the budget is a great way to have your voice heard regarding what the City should be investing toward.  The process starts now - so get involved and take action.  If you can't attend a meeting, you can also write to your City Councilor. Comments regarding the School Budget should be directed to the School Board

Real Estate Property Revaluation
